In our previous blog post, we covered the changes to Avid Media Composer’s Project sharing functionality introduced with version 2026.8. With this release, Avid made Media Composer Enterprise the required license tier for project sharing on third-party storage.
Tested and Verified
We have completed our testing and can confirm that Avid Media Composer 2026.8 Enterprise works as expected on ELEMENTS storage, including Bin Locking and other project sharing features.
As part of our participation in the Avid Media Composer Beta Testing Programme, we tested the new version to ensure that collaborative editing workflows continue to work as expected on ELEMENTS storage. Our tests confirmed that users with a Media Composer Enterprise license can use Bin Locking and other project sharing features when working with media stored on ELEMENTS systems.
What This Means for Your Workflow
ELEMENTS customers using a Media Composer Ultimate license have two options for continuing to use Bin Locking and other project sharing features:
- Stay on Media Composer 2025.12. This is the latest long-term support (LTS) version, allowing you to continue using your existing license without upgrading.
- Upgrade to Media Composer Enterprise. This allows you to use Bin Locking and other project sharing features with ELEMENTS storage from version 2026.8 onwards. Avid is offering a promotional upgrade price of $99 per seat through December 31, 2026.
