Eagle Studio is a Silicon Valley company founded by Ashay Javadekar, specializing in invisible technology that empowers human creativity. Starting with filmmaking, the company manufactures tools that automate time-consuming workflows so creators can focus on their craft.

By capturing high-quality metadata at the source, Eagle Studio ensures that essential production information is immediately available wherever it’s needed. Their invisible technology embeds unique digital fingerprints directly into raw media on set, making data immediately accessible in post-production through seamless MAM integration with the ELEMENTS Media Library. This innovative approach streamlines workflows, enhances collaboration, and continually empowers creators, enabling superior levels of efficiency and creative freedom from concept to final cut.

The Challenge

Metadata is crucial throughout the production pipeline, from on set organization to rights management, technical distribution, and archival, yet metadata generation remains manual, time-consuming, and error-prone, and production teams still manually collate and attach handwritten notes to recorded media. Metadata gets lost in transit, information integrity suffers, and media applications bear the additional burden of managing metadata, a task they weren’t designed for.

The quality of metadata in post-production depends entirely on manual data entry at the source. Without quality metadata captured on set, even the most sophisticated media asset management (MAM) systems can’t perform optimally. Production and post-production facilities maintain manual, time-consuming metadata processes to make metadata available to MAMs, NLEs, and downstream applications. This increases costs, extends time to completion, reduces data quality, and impacts profitability.

Key challenges:
  • Manual metadata entry often results in errors, incomplete information, and lost production data.
  • Lack of automated integration between on set capture and post-production systems slows workflows.
  • Media applications manage metadata only within their own environment, limiting accessibility.
  • Disconnected workflows require time-consuming manual data entry, creating inefficiencies and potential mistakes.

The Solution

Eagle Studio has developed a comprehensive metadata ecosystem, consisting of three integrated products, that automates capture-to-distribution and integrates seamlessly with the ELEMENTS MAM. Enabling automated, closed-loop metadata population without manual intervention. Their „intelligence on demand“ platform ensures metadata collected on set can be accessed anytime downstream.

  1. Eagle Slate (iPad) collects high-quality metadata on set, creating visual and audible fingerprints for every take that are embedded directly within the media. As a bonus, Eagle Slate also integrates with Arri and Blackmagic cameras on set to capture real-time in-camera metadata. This integrates seamlessly with Blackmagic URSA Cine Immersive, making Eagle Slate the world’s first production slate for immersive workflows.
  2. Eagle Notes (iPhone/Apple Watch) enables crew members to take simultaneous rich notes, text, photos, and audio, all timestamped and synchronized.
  3. Eagle Nest (macOS) scans recorded media to extract embedded fingerprints and uploads metadata to a centralized lake accessible via REST APIs or native integrations.

Eagle Studio’s integration with the ELEMENTS Media Library automates metadata management, eliminating manual work. As media is ingested, ELEMENTS queries Eagle Nest’s metadata lake to pull scene numbers, takes, crew notes, attachments, and technical details, populating it instantly so editors have the information they need exactly when they need it.

Workflow
  • On set: Eagle Slate records metadata and generates fingerprints, connecting wirelessly to Arri and Blackmagic cameras for real-time data capture.
  • Collaboration: Eagle Notes lets multiple crew members take rich, simultaneous production notes.
  • Automated workflows: Media with embedded fingerprints flows into the ELEMENTS MAM, which generates proxies and automatically links metadata via Eagle Nest.
  • Editor-ready: Fully populated, searchable media with complete production context is available the moment editors need it.

Production Use Case

This integrated workflow recently powered an immersive production by Visual Narrative Films founded by Unni Rav (DP) in California. Eagle Slate connected on set with the Blackmagic URSA Immersive camera to capture real-time, in-camera production metadata, while media was simultaneously ingested using the ELEMENTS CUBE. ELEMENTS Media Library was then used to organize and manage the raw immersive media.

Through Eagle Nest’s native integration with ELEMENTS Media Library, production metadata was automatically applied to all files, giving editors fully searchable media, including scene numbers, takes, and crew notes. This ensured real-time production context was available on demand in post, delivering a true ‘intelligence on demand’ experience.

Benefits
  • Automated Metadata: Production data flows from set to ELEMENTS MAM instantly, with no manual entry.
  • Full Set History: Every fingerprint and note is timestamped, creating a complete production timeline.
  • Accurate & Searchable: Metadata captured at the source ensures precision and makes clips instantly discoverable.
  • Streamlined & Scalable: Automated scene organization, camera integrations, and editorial handoff work for productions of any size.
Future enhancements
  • AI-powered search: Find clips instantly by querying metadata conversationally.
  • Visual timeline: See every take and note with timestamps in a clear set history.
  • Expanded Camera Support: RED and Canon integrations coming soon.
  • Mobile Capture: Quick iPhone app with voice notes for run-and-gun scenarios.
