Released in December 2024, macOS Sequoia version 15.2 introduced significant updates focused mainly on artificial intelligence, including ChatGPT integration with Siri and other tools.
However, after updating to version 15.2, many users have reported various networking issues. These include general LAN connectivity issues, slow internet speeds with random disconnections, problems with VPN services and firewalls, disruptions in AirPlay functionality, and issues with Microsoft Teams and other applications. Similar network issues have been reported with the macOS Sonoma update, version 14.7.2, as well.
What We Have Noticed
Shared storage is, of course, expected to be affected by the network issues present in macOS version 15.2. To address this, we tested our tools and identified the following issues:
-
- Connecting to the environment via the ELEMENTS Client fails
- Previous connections are not being displayed in the Client
- Slow SMB and AFP workspace mounting via the ELEMENTS Client
- Browsing mounted shares via Finder is noticeably slow
Solutions
The ability to connect to the environment using the ELEMENTS Client can be temporarily restored by accessing Privacy & Security in macOS Settings, navigating to Local Network, and toggling the ELEMENTS Client’s access off and back on.

An alternative solution is to install the recently released macOS 15.3 Beta. While this appears to alleviate the network issues introduced in version 15.2, we do not recommend it due to the inherent unpredictability of beta software.
The best course of action is to wait for a stable release of the macOS version 15.3 or to downgrade your operating system to an earlier version if possible. One more reason to stick to the older macOS versions and to be cautious of the newest OS updates is software compatibility. As of January 2025, crucial post-production applications such as Avid Media Composer and Pro Tools still don’t support macOS Sequoia (15.x), which was first released in September of 2024.
