ELEMENTS Inside

As the broadcasting and media technology industry evolves it is important for us to look to the future and ensure that we are doing our best to nurture talented minds within this field. That is why ELEMENTS is proud to offer dual education opportunities for students looking to forge a career in computer sciences and IT.

ELEMENTS CEO André Kamps says, “We are excited to welcome and to work with dual education students who are interested in computer sciences, media storage and IT support. These students will be driving our industry forward and with that in mind we have developed an internship programme that helps to equip them with new skills and a deeper understanding of the science behind what we do. We’re extremely happy to collaborate with universities and offer what we think is an exciting and invaluable programme for anyone keen to pursue a career in this industry.”

We spoke with our current interns, Tom and Tobi, about their experiences working at ELEMENTS and what they hope to achieve in the future.

TOM, 22, Currently studying BSc Computer Science at Heinrich Heine University in Düsseldorf.

1. How did you find out about ELEMENTS? And what attracted you to working with them?

I discovered ELEMENTS after the company was recommended to me. I was drawn to them because they offered the perfect mix of part-time study and work in a relaxing environment. They are also extremely supportive of my exam time table and my requirements for time off.

2. How often do you work in the office and what kind of things are you working on?

I work in the ELEMENTS office twice a week and my tasks usually include the construction and assembly of systems and backend-development for internal processes (the optimisation of servers).

3. What are you plans when you finish studying?

I will hopefully continue to work for ELEMENTS. The company have expressed an interest in taking me on after my studies, so that is very exciting for me. I would also like to work in software development as I find this field of work really fascinating.

4. What is the best thing about working with ELEMENTS?

It’s a super fun environment with great people.

TOBI, 19, Currently studying BSc Computer Science at Hochschule Niederrhein Krefeld. As part of his dual education programme he is focusing heavily upon IT system integration and computer engineering.

1. How did you find out about ELEMENTS? And what attracted you to working with them?

I discovered ELEMENTS through a job fair at my school. I was then offered an internship by the company CEO, André, because of my interest in the niche area of media storage. I enjoy the fun atmosphere at ELEMENTS and get a lot of pleasure from the work I do there.

2. How often do you work in the office and what kind of things are you working on?

I work in the ELEMENTS office three days a week and everyday during breaks in my study and holidays. My tasks include the building and configuration of systems and servers as well as general support.

3. What are you plans when you finish studying?

I would like to remain working at ELEMENTS after my studies are finished and be able to support the CTO, Heiner, and head of development, Eugene, with helping to move the company forward.

4. What is the best thing about working with ELEMENTS?

The working atmosphere and the work topics.
