The release of Avid Media Composer 2024.12 brings long-awaited native support for the Apple Silicon platform. This update eliminates the need for Rosetta, offering improved playback, processing performance, and an enhanced user experience on Mac computers powered by Apple’s ARM-based processors. However, the changes required to enable native Apple Silicon support in Media Composer have impacted how other applications connect to it.
As a result, ELEMENTS currently does not support Avid Media Composer 2024.12 on Silicon-based Macs.
If you’re using Intel-based Macs or Windows workstations, this change won’t affect you, as ELEMENTS fully supports Avid Media Composer 2024.12 on these platforms.
We are actively working on a solution and expect to offer full support for Media Composer 2024.12 on the Apple Silicon platform soon.
Additional Info
Even though Media Composer 2024.12 is qualified for macOS 15.x Sequoia, users will not be able to connect to the Avid NEXIS. We suggest waiting a bit before updating to the newest operating system.
